Each person is entitled to an annual free credit report.
It contains the most important elements from the three credit reporting
agencies, Experian, Equifax and Trans Union. This information is
available to all your lenders, why not have it in your hands? Your
annual free credit report is so easily obtained; there is no reason for
you not to have yours.
The report is clear and easy to understand. It shows in
detail the open and recently closed accounts, indicates late payments,
and if you have any, reveals fraudulent activity. And while not every
part of your FICA score is available for free, this over-all credit
rating number can be obtained by a little more research and a small
expense.
The law has just recently changed in some states,
allowing unlimited credit reports. But until every state allows this, it
is still your right to obtain one annual free credit report.
