Although
you might have your finances well handled, there is still much to be
learned by checking your credit report. Creditors and lenders have
access to these reports, why shouldn’t you? Your credit report is just
another tool for understanding the overall financial picture.
Equifax,
Experian, and TransUnion, are the three credit reporting agencies where
creditors and banks obtain individualized information. They can be
contacted online, by calling, or through the mail. Recently, many
states have passed a law where their residents can obtain their credit
report as many times a year as they like with no charge. Other states
allow each person one report a year. If an individual orders more, then
there is a small fee.
Information on your report is accessed and changed constantly. Anytime
you apply for a loan or sign-up for a new credit card, this will show on
the history. Knowing what is on your credit report keeps you as
informed as anyone of your finances and credit standing. |
