Although
you might think your finances are well handled, there is still much to
be learned by checking your credit reports. Creditors and lenders have
access to these reports, why shouldn’t you? Credit reports are just
another tool for understanding your complete financial picture.
Equifax,
Experian, and TransUnion, are the three reporting agencies where
creditors and banks obtain individualized information. They can be
contacted online, by calling, or through the mail. Recently, many states
have passed a law where their residents can obtain their credit reports
as many times a year as they like for free. Other states allow a person
one free report a year. If an individual orders more, then there is a
nominal fee.
Information on these reports is accessed and changed constantly.
Anytime a person applies for a loan or applies for a new credit card,
their credit changes. Knowing what is on credit reports keeps us as
informed as anyone of our finances and credit standing. |
