Each person is entitled to
one annual free credit report. It contains the most important elements
from the three credit reporting agencies, Experian, Equifax and Trans
Union. Your annual free credit report is so easily obtained today; there
is no reason for you not to have yours.
A free
credit report is clear and easy to understand. It shows in detail all
opened and recently closed accounts, indicates any late payments, and
even reveals fraudulent activity. While not every part of your FICO
score is available for free, this over-all credit rating number can be
obtained with a little more research and a small expense.
The
information on your report is available to all your creditors and
lenders. You should be just as informed of your spending and debts as
anyone else, if not more. It is still your right to obtain an annual
free credit report and educate yourself to your financial picture.
